Celebrating a Winning Team!

We’re super excited to share that our UX Designer, Julianna Provvidenza, and our UI Designer, Jocelyn Lam, were both part of the 1st Place team for the 1871 Hackathon for Good, sponsored by State Farm for True Star Media & Foundation!

The WHY: True Star Foundation operates a unique model that holds weekly after-school, in-school, and summer job training programs in which students learn how to create, develop, and market digital content on platforms that empower them to forge their own paths. True Star is helping young people see the remarkable value they are to the community by championing their voices and valuing their perspectives. 95% of the Black and LatinX youth involved in True Star Foundation come from under-resourced communities. When a student takes part in their programs, they develop and strengthen their voice, cultivate their creativity, and get real-work experience. By providing these opportunities, we can drive positive change in our neighborhoods.

The Problem Statement: Design, architect, and develop a cost-effective technical solution to serve and connect with more youth in ways that will empower them to share their voice, discover their path, and realize their dreams.

The Winning Concept: A web-based solution that makes it easy to find and connect students (and mentors) through youth-led interest groups to collaborate and work on projects. See it in action!

Congratulations to this amazing team: Juliana Provvidenza, Jocelyn Lam, Carson BerishEnrique Casas Jr., Ashwin Raman and Jarod Barrera.

The last 18 months. Right? We’ve been fighting COVID, fighting a recession, fighting to save our businesses, fighting with our kids to do their %#$! schoolwork. And all this time, as the CEO of LYLA (an HR benefit app focused on virtual personal assistance) I’ve been seeing the women we...

It all started when one of our customers said in passing, “Hey, wouldn’t it be nice if we could do so-and-so?” And we thought to ourselves, “Wow, that really WOULD be nice.” But instead of just doing that one thing, we decided to see what OTHER things might be nice. So we...
I am feeling compelled to share with you that the past week has been really rough for my family.  We are not OK but we will be if we no longer stay silent. Since I brought Max home as a baby in 2010, we have faced: Overt acts of violence...
It’s said that love makes the world go-around, in my mind that equates to puppies! And in the professional world, the administrative professional makes the office go-around, making day-to-day operations run smoothly. That’s why it’s important to remember to thank yours on Admin Professional’s Day! The administrative assistant wears so...
I haaaaaaate working from home. Always have. I need the discipline of getting up and going somewhere else to work to actually get work done. Also, I don’t get to see my friends at Dunkin’, and they miss me when I don’t visit every day. Also, there’s– Wait, this will...
